From Arden Robinson:
St Teresa of Avilla is one of my favorite saints. I think I love her so much because I struggle with patience and as she did also, but managed to overcome it so well with God's grace, she is quite a role model for me. Two of my favorite prayers are ones she wrote. (the first one I put together from words that she wrote in several places at different times. and compiled it into a personal prayer for myself):.

".....I believe, You Lord, never fail those who trust in You alone, who depend on You to meet all their needs. This does not mean that I am excused from seeking to help myself, only that in trusting You I will be free from anxiety........Heavenly Father, even as I measure out my life to you a bit at a time, I must be content to receive your gifts drop by drop, until I have surrendered my life wholly to you, .....not just what is left over from my daily needs. (Please give me the grace to live in the truth that) Patience gains all things".

The second prayer is a famous one by St Teresa of Avilla given to each of the RCIA team many years ago by Sr. Mary. I keep mine framed on our dining room wall going in to our kitchen where I see it many times a day and I try to pray it at least once a day. Thanks to a very good friend who gave me the same prayer to put on my frig I*m reminded even more often. It goes like this:

"Christ has no body on earth but yours....no hands on earth but your hands...Yours are the eyes through which He looks out with compassion upon the world.....Yours the feet with which He chooses to go about doing good....And we are all one in Christ Jesus".
From Jack Robinson:
One of my favorite prayers is actually the song “Amazing Grace” When you know the history of the song it takes on so much more meaning. The author of the song. John Newton, at one time was a sea captain involved in the slave trade for many years during the 1700’s. At some point he had a conversion experience. He quit the slave trade, sold his ship and became a minister in England. It reminds us that God’s Grace is there for all of us. It is not something we have to earn, but is always there for us if we turn to God and open ourselves to accept His Grace..
